YADAVINDRA SINGH, PATIALA'S "MAGNIFICENT ONE
Yadavindra Singh, the Maharajah of Patiala, an illustrious customer of the House in the 1930s, famous for his exuberant style and sumptuous commissions, was a major source of inspiration for this collection.
It was a special request from the Maharaja that marked a turning point in the history of S.T. Dupont, leading to its entry into the world of fire and lighters
Indeed, in 1941, “Le Magnifique”, as he was known, wanted to equip his minaudières with pocket lighters. The fact that this had never been done before prompted Lucien and André Tissot Dupont to create the first gasoline-powered lighter, thus inviting Maison S.T. Dupont into a new realm of excellence.
This historic collaboration opens up new creative avenues for the Manufacture and seals its association with luxury and timeless elegance.
The Haute-Création Maharaja & Maharani collection is inspired by these legendary minaudières and the jewels of the sovereign.
